A somewhat amazing collection of optical illusions by Akiyoshi Kitaoka, a researcher at Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto. Some are as much art as science. Many, like the somewhat disturbing "rotating snakes" excerpted above, contain "anomalous motion", and come with the warning "Should you feel dizzy, you had better leave this page immediately."
Comes with a catalogue of illusion types and a bibliography of resarch papers for those interested in how these things work. I found that closing one eye diminished the effect on this one but didn't eliminate it. On several others, scrolling the window enhanced the effect dramatically.
